Harry Potter Season 2
Lenny Rush, Billy Barratt and Bonnie Hill have joined the cast of HBO’s “Harry Potter” series for Season 2.

HBO has added three major characters to the cast of the second season of its Harry Potter television series.

Lenny Rush will play Dobby, Billy Barratt will portray a young Tom Riddle, while Bonnie Hill will take on the role of Ginny Weasley. The second season will adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the second book in J.K. Rowling's series.

Dobby is the house-elf who warns Harry Potter not to return to Hogwarts at the beginning of The Chamber of Secrets. Toby Jones voiced the character in the original film adaptation. HBO has not announced further details about how Dobby will be brought to life in the new series.

Barratt will play Tom Riddle, the younger version of the character who later becomes Lord Voldemort. Riddle's diary is central to the Chamber of Secrets story and plays a key role in the mystery surrounding the attacks at Hogwarts.

Hill will portray Ginny Weasley, Ron Weasley's younger sister. Gracie Cochrane was previously cast in the role during the first season. HBO has not publicly explained the change in casting.

Rush is known for appearances in Dodger, Enola Holmes 2 and Doctor Who. Barratt gained international recognition after winning the International Emmy Award for Best Actor for Responsible Child. Hill has appeared in projects including The Film Club and The Six Triple Eight.

The announcement follows HBO's recent casting of Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart for the second season. Harington replaced Nicholas Hoult, who left the production due to scheduling conflicts. Enstarz previously reported on the Lockhart casting as the HBO series continued to expand its Chamber of Secrets line-up.

The first season will adapt Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and is scheduled to premiere on HBO on December 25, 2026. Dominic McLaughlin plays Harry Potter, with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

The first-season cast also includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
HBO has not announced a release date for the second season. The new casting confirms that production is moving forward with its adaptation of The Chamber of Secrets, but further details about filming and the season's premiere schedule have not been disclosed.
